About Me
My name is Betty Schmoldt, children call me Ms. B. Besides
myself in my home there is my husband, Robert, who is known as
Bob to everyone. We have two grown children, Brenda and
Brian. Brenda is married and has given us two beautiful
grandchildren, Kailyn, age 6, and Garrett, age 4. Our family
life centers on the children/grandchildren and family
activities.
We like going to the grandchildren's sport games
in the summer. Bob and I both like to garden, although Bob
is the one with the "green thumb". We also enjoy camping and
fishing.
My
Philosophy
My focus is on education and providing your child with a
safe, fun, supportive home environment that is closer to a
family-sized group. I understand your need for a quality
preschool/childcare that is not impersonal or in a huge
setting like child care centers with 20-30 children.
Children get a sense of security in my home. They are free
to learn and create while playing and observing the world
around them.
I encourage them to explore their surroundings, to make
choices, to communicate, and to resolve conflicts in a
supportive climate. I believe this nurtures their
self-esteem and celebrates diversity.
My Experience & Training
I have a master’s degree in education from UNL. I have
taught for over 30 years working with children of all ages
and special needs. I just retired this spring from Kreft
Primary at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs where I taught
special needs children in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I love
teaching, it is my passion and I am excited about continuing
to teach in my home to a small group of children. My
specialty is reading.
I have a teaching license for both NE and Iowa.
I am also CPR and First Aid certified. I also have a health
endorsement and was certified First Aid instructor for many
years. Your children will be in a safe environment.
Early
Learning Program
A2Z Preschool is set up as a preschool with
childcare hours. I am dedicated to providing a
top-notch learning program for ages 2-5. My
curriculum is incorporated through out the day,
giving children many opportunities for learning
through fun structured activities and play. My
curriculum is created from my many years of
experience and from other creative sources. My
goal as your child's preschool teacher is to
provide an environment rich in creative,
hands-on, social/share-taking activities where
children feel encouraged, respected and loved.
I will have many different centers in the classroom
such as literacy/language, blocks/puzzles, dramatic
play, math/science, writing, arts/crafts, and
computer/listening. I will teach in large group,
small group and one-on-one.
