About Me Coming from a very family-oriented home, kids have always been a big part of my life and one of God's creations that I have enjoyed the most. After working for the first year and a half of our daughter's life, my husband and I have made the decision to have me quit my career in the business world to re-enter the childcare arena. We are opening up our home to provide a loving, Christian atmosphere for children to spend their days. Our home is both smoke-free and pet-free. I grew up on a farm in northeast Nebraska with two loving parents and a little brother in a home filled with an abundance of love. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2000. During my last two years in Kearney, I was a toddler teacher at a daycare center (more details in the experience and training history section.) After graduation, I moved to Omaha to work full-time and pursue my Masters of Business from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I obtained that degree in 2004 and have continued to work since then for Thrivent Financial, IBM, and a local property management firm. My husband [Tim] is a pilot for Airnet Systems, Inc., an Ohio-based cargo company. Tim grew up in a military family who was rooted in northern Minnesota. He lived in several states before landing in Nebraska just after high school. We met each other while mentoring junior high students at our church in Bellevue in 2003. Tim has a solid family background with two loving parents and two wonderful siblings. He finished his undergraduate degree with the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2005. Tim and I have been blessed to be parents to our beautiful daughter [Gracie] since September 2006. She is a spunky toddler with a very big personality. She brings us both joy and humbleness each day! She loves other children and is eager to meet new playmates. Philosophy As long as we learn something new every day, we will never get tired of living life. Kids learn most everything they need to build who they are as a person in their first five years of life. It is very important to enforce each family's morals and discipline structure during those formidable, learning years. I will do my best to teach children things to help them develop into well-rounded adults with high self-esteem and a strong moral foundation. Along the way, I will aid in the stimulation of their minds, development of relationship skills, and enhancement of each child's motor skill development. Experience I logged hundreds of hours babysitting children as a teenager and young adult. During my undergraduate studies in Kearney, NE, I worked for two years as a toddler teacher at Sugar and Spice Daycare Center. The time I spent caring for children was such a refreshing break from the stress of being a full-time student. When I moved to Omaha to work and begin graduate school, I missed my time with the children terribly. I became active in a local church by acting as the lead teacher of preschool-age Sunday School for four years. I also enjoyed mentoring twelve amazing teenage girls for three of those years. Early Learning Program I am exploring different curriculum and will make a final decision based on the ages and maturity levels of children in my care. I am the kind of person who always needs to be learning something new. I look forward to receiving ideas from the parents and kids regarding new things to learn or accomplish during our days together. I will use tangible, hand-on activities when possible. My dream is to teach the basics of the Spanish language and possibly learn basic sign language to help children better communicate with adults and each other. Policies I will be happy to discuss these things with you via email, phone, or in person. Please contact me with any questions that you have. I will do my best to be as flexible as possible. Additional Information I am in the process of obtaining all the necessary training and certifications to become state licensed. I will update my profile when I accomplish that goal. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. |
