A Little
About Me
Hi, my name is Kim. I have
four children of my own, mostly grown, with
the youngest a senior at Westside. My two
oldest daughters have blessed me with three
grandchildren. I have been married to Rob
since Valentine’s Day 1981. We lived in
Kansas City for years, but found Omaha a
great place to raise children.
I taught Sunday School
here for over six years prior to opening my home day care when my boys were
two and three years old. I have been so lucky to be able to wake up every
day and do something I absolutely love. I strive for a professional
atmosphere in a home setting and to make each day something special for the
children. I love seeing their smiles first thing in the morning. I am
honored to have been a part of so many wonderful families lives and well as
have the opportunity to watch mine grow as well.
My
Philosophy
Children grow very quickly
and grow away…. I am committed to providing
the children in my care with a safe, loving,
stimulating, secure, and happy environment.
I believe in encouraging healthy habits and
providing the atmosphere where children can
safely explore, learn and play. I believe
children should be given every opportunity
to develop physically, emotionally, socially
and intellectually. I will spend quality
time with each of them and show them love
and security and build self-esteem and
confidence. I am dedicated to the best
possible care of your child.
My
Experience
I have been
licensed by the State of Nebraska since September, 1993. I am First Aide and
CPR certified, updated as required. I am a member of the Heartland Family
Services Nebraska Food Program; which reimburses me for nutritionally
balanced meals I serve your children. Monthly menus are available for
review. I have completed the Boys Town Parenting Program which has inspired
wonderful ways of positive reinforcement and redirecting as forms of
teaching good behavior and building healthy self-esteem in children.
I have attended
the renowned Applebaum Training Seminars, the Nebraska Association for the
Education of Young Children conferences, and Early Childhood Professional
Workshop Series.
I am a member
of the Child Care Share Provider Group which I attend to commune with other
providers for support and problem solving as well as to acquire monthly
in-service training. I also belong to the Child Care Connection and the
Omaha Childcare Directory.
Early Learning Program
Every day is an opportunity
to learn through play and repetition. I
include values in everyday activities to
teach sharing, caring, manners, honesty and
respect. I encourage emotional growth
through puppets, show and tell and dress up
time. We weekly focus on specific activities
directed towards colors, numbers/counting or
music with dancing, singing and band play.
We explore the language arts with alphabet
and word games, and we sometimes have guest
readers for our favorite “Story Times”. We
explore around us with science activities
outdoors with nature ‘Treasure Hunts’ and
indoors with ‘Home Made Goop’ . I have Play
Centers to educate about community and
family. Cooking, measuring, stirring, and
sharing is one of our favorite activities.
I alternate
between Kid’s Kurriculum Korner Preschool Program and Kid Crafters Preschool
Programs. I have recently been introduced to the Reach For The Stars Program
which I look forward to using for fresh ideas.
We also love
the computer center with Usborne learning games in Science, Baileys Book
House, Trudy’s Time and Place House, Orly’s Drawings, Mighty Math Carnival
and Dr. Brain.
Crafts are my
favorites and such a great way to perfect small motor skills. We are
constantly looking up DLTK’s printable crafts for Holiday specials or
Coloring pages. I love to involve the kids in planning and choosing
activities to promote community and growth.
I Practice Fire
Drills and Tornado Drills with the children. We practice cleanliness and
healthy eating habits. I balance Large and Small Motor skill activities with
the small group learning environment and a large fenced backyard with
playground equipment, bikes, trikes, sports and a Hand Made Playhouse.

Additional
Information
I believe the most important
component of a happy, long-lasting
relationship between a parent and a
successful business in Home Daycare is open
communication between parent and provider. I
will always make time to talk to you about
your concerns regarding your children. I
have daily progress reports available upon
request.
Every child is
a gift and working with children is a blessing. My favorite thing in the
world is a child’s laughter and I believe a child’s smile is a slice of
Heaven.
