About Me
I grew up in Omaha, graduating from Millard South High School in
1994. I earned an associate’s degree in business management
from Metropolitan Community College. My husband, Loren, is the
Vice President at Millard Electronics. We were married in April
of 1998. We bought our Brookhaven home in May of 2000, and plan
to grow old here. We have three sons. Asa is ten, a sweet and
smart fourth-grader that enjoys Legos, swimming, and soccer.
Zeke is eight, a second-grader and a hilarious little guy that
loves all things “boy.” Shae is our lovable 5-year-old,
blond-haired and blue-eyed and full of spunk. He loves cars and
keeping up with his big bros. He is excited about starting
Kindergarten this fall. The furry member of our family is Emmy,
our dog. She has excellent temperament and does not shed. We
also have Lemon and Lime, our “pair-o-sweets” (parakeets). And
we have Mr. Mystery, a red-ear slider turtle.
My
Philosophy
Kristin’s Kids is committed to providing high quality care in a safe and
healthy environment. I hope to help your child develop physically,
emotionally, socially, and intellectually through vigorous play and
stimulating activities. Most of all, I want Kristin’s Kids to be a place
where your child loves to come each morning for friends and fun.
My
Experience
I’ve been baby-sitting since I was a teenager, and I now have
three children of my own. I’ve been operating my in-home
daycare since April of 2002. I’m state licensed, CPR and First
Aid trained, and I complete a minimum of 12 hours of
child-related training per year.
Early Learning Program
Kristin’s Kids participates in Millard Public Schools Partners with
Providers preschool and kindergarten readiness program. The program
involves a monthly teacher visit in which the children are instructed in a
lesson. Follow up materials are left for me to use between visits for
further instruction to reinforce the skills the children are learning. I
also use a self-devised pre-school curriculum in conjunction with materials
provided by “Partners” between teacher visits. We do projects and
activities each day to help the children learn to recognize letters,
numbers, shapes, and colors. We use storybooks, workbooks, activity
packets, craft and art projects, and project ideas from many outlets to
nurture their natural curiosity and ability to learn. My goal is to ensure
each child knows the alphabet, can count to twenty, and name all the basic
colors and shapes by age three. Beyond that, I ensure each child recognizes
his/her printed name, address, and telephone number, letter and number
recognition, and other life skills such as manners, respect, and
independence before kindergarten.
Policies
My contract includes all policies and procedures and is
available to interested families.
