About me:
I have had day care in my home since 1983. Before
that I was a teacher for 5 years in OPS. Then I
substituted for 1 1/2 years after I had my daughter.
I had decided that the day care I had set up for my
daughter wasn't working out and I wanted to offer a
better situation. I am involved in outside
activities which are horse back riding and working
at horse shows on weekends. Love animals. I do have
a cat named Chesney (after Kenny Chesney) and she is
3 years old and awesome. I also have a pet fish
which the day care kiddoes really like to watch at
meal times. My only child is on her own and a
teacher in Papillion.
Philosophy:
My philosophy is to offer the same home setting that
my daughter had to others. I want it a home
situation. I don't believe in basement day cares. I
have a split entry house and use the entire
upstairs. I want them to feel more in a home
environment and with everything that goes with that
idea. Rules, being helpers, respect for all, being
responsible (for their age) and learning. I want it
to be like an extended family situation.
Experience:
I graduated from UNO with a BS degree in P.E. And
that is what I taught. I substituted in elementary
and Jr High schools. I have done a lot of my own
research on preschool lessons and my mother-in-law
helped me with ideas when my daughter was little. I
love to teach. I also had a previous owner of the
Growing Tree Preschool's child in my day care and
she gave me lots of ideas. Plus, I have done lots of
lesson plans and gone to in-services and first aide
and CPR training for my license.
Early learning program:
I offer preschool (which the kiddoes nicked-name
years ago "table time"). The main program starts at
2 year of age and each year the child is bumped up
to the next level. They are all ready for
Kindergarten when they leave here. I have hundreds
of lesson plans and I do custom plans for those who
need more or adjustments. They have a craft etc. on
Mondays. Tues, Wed., and Thurs. they have paper to
do. Thurs. afternoon we Play Bingo (shapes, color,
number). There is story, music, and finger play
time every morning. We do instruments once a week.
I also have games we play, puzzles, tons of table
time activities. Tons of toys for all ages (12
months and up) Birthday and Holiday parties,
always. For the children under 2 the 1-almost 2
year olds join all activities and get an adapted
table time to what works for them. Children 6 months
and up are included in story, music, outside time.
We usually adjust preschool time for the others when
little ones are napping.
Policies:
I have a contract. Everything is put in writing.
There is a deposit fee which is used for the last
week of day care. I do not get paid for my vacation
days, I do have paid holidays and 3 paid sick days
per year. All payments are made on Monday
mornings. I do give receipts for anyone who needs
one and all families get an end of the year receipt
for tax purposes. I am on the Midwest food program
also. Once an interview is set up all additional
information will be given including references.
Additional information:
My back yard is fenced and when weather is permitted
we go outside. We also do water activities in the
back yard. I have outside toys as well as all kind
of inside toys and activities. We also use the
front drive way if the yard is to wet. I take
children 6 months and up. And I do take part-time
with a minimum of 3 days per week.
